Valletta, Malta’s Capital City, information & street map
No Malta guide would be complete without including Valletta, the walled capital city of Malta. Lying just along the coast from Sliema its higher points offer fantastic views in all directions. Valletta boasts the Maltese Islands’ busiest shopping location & its old, narrow streets with their ‘Baroque style’ architecture play host to many of the historical attractions of Malta. In addition to the many shops, Valletta holds a popular ‘open-air’ market every morning. Restaurants are plentiful and the city has a few hotels & bars. A more recent addition to Valletta’s attractions is “The Waterfront,” with its bars, restaurants & nightlife set at the very edge of Grand Harbour and its fortifications. As the ‘hub’ of Malta, the main bus terminus is located just at the city entrance providing you with access to all the other Malta holiday locations.
