Mdina (the silent city) & Rabat, Malta, street map & information
Located centrally in Malta, Mdina & neighbouring Rabat both have history dating back thousands of years. The walled city of Mdina stands on high & was once the capital of Malta. Its narrow streets are steeped in history and much of it can be better appreciated from walking around accompanied by a Malta guide. Historical tours and shops offering souvenirs & memorabilia can be found inside the city along with a few eating places and restaurants. The view from ‘a top’ the perimeter wall is truly magnificent and, on a clear day, would be regarded as one of the highlights of the Maltese Islands. The town of Rabat next door is a classic example of a Maltese community and is said to have been the residence of St Paul in 60 AD when he was shipwrecked in Malta. The Catacombs of St Paul can be visited in Rabat. Make sure you include a visit to Mdina & Rabat on your Malta holiday. In Mdina
